Tremendous Upside w/ Dave & Niraj

I guess the Kansas City Chiefs are pretty confident in the burger bet this year, because they're busy making parodies of The Office and 30 Rock. However, they're both not bad, especially the 30 Rock one for the look/sound-alikes.

The Office:

30 Rock:

This is pretty cool...IMDb publishes a list of the top 250 movies as voted on by its users, and someone took it and turned it into a transit system-style map, using each train/subway line to cover a movie genre. The result is pretty interesting, particularly the movies that sit on junctions between lines.

There's something about Lady Gaga's Poker Face song that's got both Cartman and Christopher Walken performing it. Hilarious. Warning: it's sure to get stuck in your head.

This video covers 3 different parts of the South Park episode where Cartman's singing the song:

Chistopher Walken reading the lyrics:

The original Lady Gaga version:

And finally, there's even an acoustic version that she did on some Japanese show that sounds completely different, but proves she can actually sing and play the piano.

dave submitted a bizzare story which is really too short to be summarized. So here it is:
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Iowa City police are investigating an early morning assault in which a man accused another of being a zombie, then punched him twice. Police said the assault occurred at 1:17 a.m. Sunday at an Iowa City restaurant south of the University of Iowa campus.

A man was ordering food when he was approached by another man who called him a zombie, then hit him in the eye. When the victim tried to call police on his cell phone, the man punched him again, breaking his nose.

The man then ran out a back door. The victim was taken by ambulance to a hospital.
I don't get why the guy that got punched wouldn't go somewhere else (or at least away from the other guy) when calling the cops.

We're still making podcasts! There just hadn't been that much going on to podcast about. But how could we miss the kickoff to the War Across the Shore?!? We discuss a few other topics as well this week.

Security Briefs (S6E9)

This week's episode was the last straw for me. I'll finish watching this season, but I'm not satisfied with the direction it's taken and what appears to be the direction it's going. This episode involved more of the break-in plot, ultimately leading to the revelation that the break-in was due to some sorority prank and not the stalker they had been going after. Ari went completely off the rails with Lloyd because there was no other way to have Lloyd leave since he's so loyal. But that also made it exceptionally unbelievable, especially when Lloyd abandoned the car. And the Ashley storyline continues, with her now becoming extremely prying and invasive in all of E's comings and goings (no Sloan drama this week).

To top it all off, Vince's random hookups have just become a stupid punchline, I doubt we'll get to see E do anything meaningful at his new agency because they're too focused on his relationships that just keep going in circles, and Drama's career has also been reduced to a punchline when it looked like he'd be more successful. Which just further demonstrates there's no substantial character or plot development going on with anyone. And a Zac Efron cameo? Come on!

After several disappointing episodes in a row, I'm not finding the current storylines to be very entertaining...I might be in the minority on this, but this episode was the nail in the coffin for me. Feel free to agree/disagree in the comments! I'm interested to know what others think about this season.

No More Drama (S6E7)

This week's episode was Strike 2. Following right on the heels of last week's lackluster episode, this week wasn't any better. The only bright spot was Bob Saget...even though he's just being as dirty as possible it's still hilarious. Other than that, we got more nonsense with Drama with a dissatisfying conclusion (the manager is just messing with him with no intention of firing him), E trying to establish himself during a artificial-feeling rivalry, Vince and Turtle taking on a stupid quest reminiscent of the pointless sideplots that Turtle and Drama used to have each week, and no real presence from Ari.

This season started out strong, but these last couple of episodes have been pretty disappointing. I'm still hoping for a better plot since there's plenty of season left.
